In this video, the University of Western Macedonia (UOWM) presents its role as the coordinator of the NANCY project and highlights its key technical contributions. UOWM, a dynamic academic institution with campuses across five cities in Greece, plays a leading role in shaping the future of secure, intelligent, and energy-efficient wireless networks.
As part of NANCY, UOWM hosts one of the project’s testbeds, focused on a coverage expansion scenario that introduces the concept of micro-operators—entities that can deploy private networks and act as neutral hosts for large operators. This approach improves network coverage and reduces energy consumption for user devices.
The testbed integrates public and private 5G standalone networks, leveraging Open5GS, srsRAN, and AI-powered anomaly detection enhanced with explainable AI tools to provide additional security layers. The video also showcases a demo simulating cyberattacks and the use of NANCY’s Explainable AI Toolkit to increase transparency in AI-driven threat detection.
